Company Background

Lateral Security is New Zealand’s leading independent IT security company providing tailored information security testing and advisory services.

Directors Nick von Dadelszen and Ratu Mason founded Lateral Security in 2008 after seeing the need for an independent ICT security services company that uses a highly specialised team of management (advisory) and technical (testing) security consultants. The Directors value quality over quantity and this is reflected in every process within the business which is designed to provide business level actionable outcomes for our clients.

Lateral Security has 30 staff in offices located in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and relationships with service providers in Canada and the United States.

Clients include businesses and government agencies with the toughest security compliance requirements, including those in the financial services and telecommunications. New Zealand certifications awarded in 2017 include Department of Internal Affairs (All of Government Certified Services & Common Capability ICT): ICT-SRS Panel (CCPSA-SRS) for:

Nick

Nick von Dadelszen
Director, Technical Team Lead


Nick is co-founder of Lateral Security and its principal security consultant with over 13 years of experience in the security industry. He is a regular presenter on IT security topics and lectured at Canterbury University. Before co-founding Lateral Security Nick worked at Deloitte New Zealand and security-assessment.com, which is where he first met Ratu Mason.  Nick’s strengths include:

Ratu

Ratu Mason
Director, Relationship Manager

Ratu is co-founder of Lateral Security and its senior sales/relationship manager. He has over 18 years experience in technical and account management positions. He is also an active member of ISIG and “First Tuesday”. Before co-founding Lateral Security Ratu worked at security-assessment.com, Vodafone, Eagle Technology and Telecom New Zealand. Ratu’s strengths include:

Andrew

Andrew is the Auckland Services Account Manager. Andrew has over fifteen years of experience in business and relationship management in the IT infrastructure and security software industries. Throughout his career Andrew has a demonstrable track record of assisting his customers to maximise their business goals to achieve successful outcomes.

Andy

Andy is the Wellington Services Account Manager with over 24 years in key account management roles in various industries including telecommunications, ICT, government and financial services. Andy’s previous roles in sales and account management within the enterprise and government business segments means he has an established history in client-driven outcomes.

Andrew

Andrew is an Account Manager with over 10 years in sales management, building client relationships within customer service industries. Andrew has extensive background in customer service, contact and call centre management, IT service desk, fault and resolution tracking. Andrew is also a tennis coach for a number of Wellington clubs and enjoys the challenges of both of these roles.

Christchurch

Glenn

Glenn is the Christchurch Services Account Manager. Glenn and has over 20 years' experience in account management roles across ICT, Telecommunications and the Accounting industry. His previous roles in sales and account management mean he is focused on driving the best client driven outcomes. Glenn holds a number of roles across different community organisations.

Benjamin

Benjamin is a Technical Team Leader with 8 years of experience in the IT industry. In this time he has worked for both private companies and government organisations in system administration, software development and support roles. In the past he has done research into computer science education techniques and his active area of research is in digital forensic analysis tools.

Josh

Josh is a Technical Team Leader with 6+ years of IT experience in public sector audit roles and offensive security.

Josh has experience with large-scale IT project implementation and architecture, as well as a strong understanding of application development, Linux, Unix and open standards-based technologies as well as security methodologies and frameworks including OWASP, OSSTMM and NZISM.
